Privacy Policy

Last updated October 28, 2026

This policy covers every app published by ActioCognita LLC (“we”, “us”) and distributed through Apple’s App Stores. The first section applies to all of our apps. Each app then has its own section saying exactly what that app does with your information.

All of our apps

Who we are

Our apps are made by ActioCognita LLC. We are passionate about helping our users understand their information and take action based on that understanding. You can reach us at contact@actiocognita.com.

What each app collects

Each app’s section below says what information that app handles, where it is kept, and whether anything reaches us. If a section does not say that something reaches us, it does not.

Information you choose to send us

If you email us, or choose to send us a diagnostics report, we use the provided information to answer you and to investigate and resolve the problem you reported. When you report a problem, we may ask you to send a diagnostics report, or to tell us how you use the app and its features and what was happening when the problem appeared.

We may keep your email, with any diagnostics report attached, for up to 12 months, and compare reports from different users to find and fix problems that affect more than one user. Reports do not include your name or anything you have written, but they reach us in your email or message, with your address or number. We may also keep a report on its own, without your contact details; once separated, it can no longer be linked to you, so we cannot find or delete it on request. We delete emails and reports, separated or not, within 12 months, and emails sooner if you ask. We do not sell what you send us or use it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us, such as our email host and the software we use to investigate problems. We give them only what they need, and we use them only under settings or terms that do not let them use it for their own purposes, including training AI models.

Purchases and crash reports

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never receive your payment details. If you allow it in your device’s settings, Apple may share crash reports with us; these describe what went wrong in the app itself and do not include any of your content.

Your choices

You can ask us what information of yours we hold, if any, and ask us to delete it, by writing to contact@actiocognita.com.

Children

Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If what an app does with your information changes, we update that app’s section before the version that makes the change is released, and change the date at the top of this page. Significant changes are also described in that app’s release notes.

FastNote

The short version: your notebook stays with you. We do not collect, see or sell it. We will never ask you to send us a backup, an export, or any other copy of your notebook, and we never need one to help you. If you send us one anyway, we will delete it without opening it, and let you know.

Your notebook

Your pages, handwriting, headings and settings are stored on your device. We have no servers and no account system, and the app does not send your notebook to us.

iCloud sync

If you turn on iCloud sync, your notebook is stored in the private iCloud database of your own Apple account, so it can appear on your other devices. Apple holds that data under its own privacy policy; we cannot read it.

Sync is off until you turn it on, and turning it off never deletes anything.

Handwriting recognition

Reading your handwriting, for search, headings and reminders, happens on your device, using Apple’s on-device recognition and language model. Your writing is not sent anywhere to be read.

Calendar and Reminders

If you allow it, the app reads your calendar on your device to match a page to the meeting you are in, and can add a link to that page to the meeting. If you circle writing to make a reminder, the app creates it in Apple Reminders with a link back to the page, in the list you choose (the app reads your lists’ names so you can choose one). Afterwards it shows whether those reminders are done, and lets you tick them off from the page. It does not read or change your other reminders. You can withdraw either permission in Settings at any time.

Search, Spotlight and Siri

If you turn on Spotlight in the app’s settings, each page’s date, page number and meeting are added to your device’s Spotlight index, so you can find and open it. A second setting, also off until you turn it on, adds each page’s heading, and lets Siri and Shortcuts use a page’s text when you ask about that page. The rest of your writing is not added to Spotlight. All of this stays on your device, and turning either setting off removes what was shared.

Backups and exports

Backups and PDF exports are saved to the app’s folder on your device, visible in the Files app. They leave your device only if you move or share them yourself.

Diagnostics

The app keeps a short technical log on your device, about a day’s worth, to help fix problems. It leaves your device only if you choose Share diagnostics and send it to us. It is sent from your own email or messaging app, so it reaches us with your address or number, like any message.

The log describes how the app is being used and how it is running: the app and system version, the device model, free storage and memory, dates and times, error messages, and a record of iCloud sync activity. It also notes which features you used and whether they worked, such as making a reminder or setting a heading, along with counts and sizes, such as how many pages your notebook has or how long a reminder’s title is. It never contains your handwriting or the text read from it.

What FastNote does not do

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking across apps or websites, and no third-party software that collects data.
